Birthday Party!
Today we celebrated Jordyn's 5th birthday (actual day Tuesday the 26th). I'm not sure who had more fun - her or her family who had so much fun watching her! She's got the opening presents thing figured out now. And, I'm afraid she has developed a taste for sweets as she loved her icecream cake! She loved all her presents - the only problem was trying to figure out which one to play with next! It was a great time! We've had a great week and I'm starting to realize that this will end all too soon as I'm half way through my FMLA. I covet your prayers for guidance concerning my return to work. I was reminded in church this morning about God's call to Abraham to leave his people and country and "go to the land I will show you". God didn't tell him where - but He guided him step by step. When I look back, I realize this entire adoption journey has been like that. He has led me every step in this very unfamilar territory and I don't believe He will stop now - I just need the next step! Thanks to all for hanging with us! k "We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you". Psalm 33:20-22

One month anniversary
Hi all! I've decided to keep the blog going since it is an easy way for everyone to see pictures. Monday will be 4 weeks since Jordyn joined her forever family! In some ways that is hard to believe and in other ways it seems like a life time ago. We are doing great! Jordyn had her first doctor appointment Friday - she was a trooper - only cried for a second when they stuck her for labs. Everything looks good physically (pending labs of course). I'm going to schedule her with a peds ophthalmologist to make sure her eyesight is ok. She is saying new English words everyday - I was in China 2 weeks and I didn't learn any Chinese - so I think this is awesome! Aunt Sherry took us to a Chinese buffet today. The waitress spoke to Jordyn in Chinese and she answered in Chinese. It was obvious that it pleased her to hear her native language. It makes me sad to think how confusing all this must be for her. We went to church today and Jordyn did great (at least that's what they told me). I'm so blessed to be a part of a loving church family who has been praying for this child for over 2 years. They love her and have welcomed her with open arms - and she feels it. Thanks to all who are continuing to follow our journey - please pray that Jordyn will become securely attached; pray for my wisdom and for God's guidance concerning returning to work in October. I will post more pics later this week (and I'll try to get one without sunglasses and hat - she loves them and wants to wear them all the time!) k "But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds." Psalm 73:28

Adjusting At Home
Hi to anyone who may still be reading this. I've been terrible at answering e-mails and sending pictures so I thought I would post here again just in case. We are adjusting and doing well. Jordyn loves all the new things we have done - sandbox, pool, swings and slide, long walks in the stroller, and time with family. She is eating and sleeping very well. It only took 2 days to get her on NC time which was amazing considering China is 12 hours ahead of us. Took me a bit longer to recover from the jet lag and the many days without real sleep. We have a pediatrician visit this Friday and I'm quite sure her weight will be doubled - just kidding but she feels like it! We would love to see anyone who makes it out our way!
